JUNIOR YEAR

Continue to Be Evaluated

  • Proactively follow up with college coaches after showcases and camps
  • Thank coaches for their time and request honest feedback on your performance
  • Use evaluations to better understand your potential role within different programs
  • Stay resilient and open-minded — not every program will be a fit, and that’s part of the process

Dialogue With College Coaches

  • As interest grows, some programs will request calls or in-person meetings
  • These conversations are opportunities to evaluate the school and program, not just be evaluated

Helpful Questions to Ask:

  • What are your recruiting needs for my graduating class?
  • How many players graduate each year and how does that impact roster spots?
  • How do freshmen typically contribute?
  • How large is the roster and travel squad?
  • What academic support is available for student-athletes?
  • What are training schedules and expectations?
  • What are the next steps and recruiting timeline?

Be prepared by researching the program’s recent success, style of play, and where you may fit.

Campus Visits

  • Recruiting conversations may include on-campus visits
  • Understand the difference between official and unofficial visits
  • Visits help determine overall fit — academically, socially, and athletically

Evaluate Your College Soccer Options

  • Narrow your list based on interest, feedback, and realistic opportunities

Consider the Role You Want:

  • Immediate impact and playing time
  • Gradual contribution within a competitive environment
  • Developmental role with long-term growth opportunities

Key Factors to Evaluate:

  • Division level (DI, DII, DIII)
  • Recent program performance
  • Roster depth at your position
  • Feedback received from the coaching staff

Prepare for Offers

  • Recruiting timelines vary by division and program level
  • Offers may come at different points during junior and senior years
  • Be organized and informed before decisions need to be made
  • Some offers may include deadlines — preparation is critical
  • Take the time needed to make the best long-term decision for you
